Some basic stuff: Released to commemorate her 10 years as a recording artist with her label Jive, on November 10th, 2009, her debut album was released in January of 1999. The only single from the album, "3", debuted at #1, appropriately becoming the first song in 3 years to debut at the top position, and becomng her 3rd #1 on the Hot 100 chart. To date, it has sold 172,000 copies in the U.S. and 750,000 copies worldwide (source).
3 - I can still remember the first time I heard the song play on the radio, though seeing as how it was only 2 1/2 years ago, I guess it's not that impressive, it was the premiere morning on KISS and as the song began to play, I became confused. It sounded horrible, hardly recognizable, it could have been anyone singing. I sighed and took a shower and went to school and halfway through my day, I caught myself singing "1 2 3 not only you and me". The song is catchy, to put it mildly, which is why it's sold 3.5 million copies worldwide, over 2 million of those in the U.S. alone. Once I got over the initial shock of hearing multiple, heavily AutoTune'd layers of Britney singing to me, the song started to unfurl; with a lot of modern pop songs, the production is so extensive that it's impossible to notice everything the first listen through, and this song is a perfect example of that. The bass beat at first seems simple, but at times it'c chopped and edited much like her voice is, producing a strobe effect. Max Martin co-produced the track with Shellback, and both dudes wrote the track with Tiffany Amber, who would go on to write "Criminal" for Britney's next album. For a Max Martin track, he was really innovative, leaving behind most of his Euro-pop influences and crafting a true dance-pop track, though you can hear hints of old-school Max on the bridge with the guitar melody breakdown. Even after a year and a half, the track is still a great listen, I find something new every time I listen, this was a great way to honor her musical history; produce a track with the guy that started it all. - 10/10
Just for fun, the alternate, promo artwork used for the single.
Overall: Much like her "Greatest Hits" album, this collection is quite literally all of her singles, though seeing as how the standard CD only had 17 tracks on it out of 29 total, they left some off, though the boxed set and iTunes deluxe edition did include all the singles and their respective B-Sides. I received the boxed set as a gift for graduating high school back in June and I gotta say, it is one cool piece of merchandise, staying more or less faithful to the original singles, with the only downside being that they opted for a unified black disc for each single instead of the original art. If you've never owned a Britney CD, but like all her singles, the standard CD could not be a better buy, it has all her hits and that's all you need. Well not really, but they're something no one should go without. - 10/10

I agree with you, that box set it's just too amazing even though it has so many mistakes in it but amazing regardless :)
